A Japanese Tea House Simplified

On this website I have pictures of many Japanese buildings I have designed including residences and temples. Not included in those pictures is a small tea house which is under construction.

I have received so many requests for plans for such a tea house that I have decided to offer them for sale on the Internet. Other plans for a small Japanese house and a book on building several types of Japanese baths (o-furo) will soon be available.

Since these are designed to be built by Westerners with an interest in Japanese culture, they are built with standard building materials available in the United States. They can be constructed by anyone with a basic knowledge of carpentry and woodworking.

A traditional Japanese garden would be the ideal setting for these buildings. Resources for designing and creating Japanese gardens including are included on my page of resource links.
